Community Literacy Hubs
At the heart of Literacy Without Limits is a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves access to books, no matter their zip code. Community Literacy Hubs are free-standing book stations placed in high-need areas to ensure children and families can access quality reading materials outside of school. Each hub is stocked with books for all ages—from toddlers to adults—and is maintained by local volunteers and school or community partners. These hubs are more than just book boxes—they’re beacons of opportunity, empowerment, and equity.

What are Community Literacy Hubs?
Community Literacy Hubs are weatherproof, hand-built book-sharing libraries placed in public spaces across Florida, especially in neighborhoods where book access is scarce. Stocked with high-interest, inclusive, and engaging titles for all ages, these hubs make it easy for families to take a book, leave a book, and fall in love with reading.
Each hub also features:
-
QR Codes linking to read-alouds and family literacy resources
-
An Author Spotlight celebrating underrepresented voices, including authors of color, neurodivergent creators, LGBTQ+ authors, and others whose stories deserve to be seen and heard
-
Books for all ages, from picture books to Young Adult novels, updated regularly to reflect the needs of the community
Why They Matter:
Books are more than just stories, they’re stepping stones to confidence, critical thinking, and future success. But for too many families, books are a luxury rather than a given. Community Literacy Hubs:

-
Promote early literacy and language development
-
Encourage family reading at home
-
Build community connection through shared stories
-
Provide a constant source of learning outside the school day
They create a culture of literacy that begins on the sidewalk and stretches into the home.

How They're Built:
Each hub is constructed with thought and care. Whether a refurbished newspaper box or a wooden structure built through partnerships with local high school building trades programs and community volunteers, these hubs ignite literacy. They are weatherproofed, sealed with waterproof exterior paint, and feature a plexiglass door to protect the books inside. Every hub is a collaboration, built with care, placed with purpose, and stocked with love.
The Vision:
My dream is to place at least one Community Literacy Hub in every Florida county, 67 hubs, 67+ access points, countless new readers. With the support of donors, schools, volunteers, and community partners, this vision is becoming a reality.
